Lattafa Dynasty is a dry, quietly expensive tea scent. Bergamot, ginger and clary sage open it with a flick of raspberry, rooibos and soft suede make up the heart, and amberwood, cedar and cashmeran finish it. Composed by Alex Lee, it is one of Lattafa’s most original releases. 100ml Eau de Parfum, now £18.99 (was £39.99), with free UK delivery.

Lattafa Dynasty: Rooibos Tea, Soft Suede and Dry Cedar

Dynasty is the Lattafa for people who have grown tired of sugar. It opens bright and a little bitter, with bergamot and ginger up front, clary sage adding a dry herbal edge, nutmeg bringing dusty warmth and a small, tart raspberry glinting through. Give it half an hour and the real fragrance appears: red rooibos tea wrapped in smooth suede, over a clean, modern base of amberwood, cedar and cashmeran. It launched in 2025 and is credited on Fragrantica to perfumer Alex Lee, which is still unusual for a Lattafa release. With 2,600-plus votes and an average of 4.24 out of 5, it has become one of the house’s most talked-about bottles. You can explore the rest of the range in our Lattafa perfumes collection.

The Scent Profile

Top — bergamot, ginger, clary sage, nutmeg, raspberry. This is the roughest part of Dynasty, and it helps to know that before you judge it. Bergamot and ginger are zesty and almost fizzy, clary sage makes it dry and aromatic, and nutmeg adds a dusty spice. The raspberry is small. It doesn’t make the scent fruity, but it takes the edge off what would otherwise be a stern opening.

Heart — rooibos tea, suede. This is why people buy it. Rooibos isn’t black tea. It is redder and softer, with an earthy sweetness and a gentle woody bitterness. Here it is laid over suede that is smooth and velvety rather than smoky. Together they give a warm, clean, slightly soapy effect that feels far more considered than the price suggests.

Base — amberwood, cedarwood, cashmeran. The finish is modern and dry. Cedar gives it a clean backbone, amberwood adds a golden radiance, and cashmeran provides the soft, musky, cashmere-jumper warmth that makes it pleasant up close. There’s no vanilla and no sugar, which is exactly the point.

How Dynasty Compares — the Honest Version

Lattafa doesn’t name an inspiration for Dynasty, and we couldn’t find a manufacturer claim anywhere. Fragrantica reviewers do reach for comparisons, and the one that comes up most is Louis Vuitton Imagination. Those reviewers usually describe Dynasty as less soapy and more mature than the LV, with the rooibos and suede taking it somewhere drier and warmer than Imagination’s black tea and neroli. A smaller number of reviewers mention Creed Silver Mountain Water for the tea-and-metallic freshness, or YSL Y for the drydown. None of these amounts to a clone claim. The fairest summary is that Dynasty sits in the same refined tea-and-woods family as Imagination without being built to copy it.

BEST SEASONS

Fragrantica voters mostly rate Dynasty as long-lasting. Reviewers use phrases like “very good longevity” and “lasts all day on skin”, and some describe the projection as very strong. Others find it sits closer, which fits a composition built on tea, suede and cashmeran rather than loud sugar. We couldn’t retrieve the page’s formal vote breakdown, so the bars show the direction of those reviews rather than a precise score.

The practical advice is to give it thirty minutes before you decide anything. The opening is the least flattering part. Dynasty is at its best from autumn through spring and is a natural office scent. In real summer heat the suede can turn thick, so save it for milder days.

Who It’s For

Dynasty is for anyone who has outgrown sweet gourmands and wants something that smells expensive without shouting. It’s for tea-fragrance fans, for people who need an office-safe signature, and for anyone buying a gift who wants something unisex and inoffensive. It leans slightly masculine through the woods and ginger, but Lattafa and Fragrantica both list it for women and men. Skip it if you want a compliment magnet that fills a room, because that isn’t what this is trying to be.

How It Compares With the Other Houses We Stock

The obvious companion is Bujairami Hectic (£54.99). Hectic also has a tea base, in its case Chinese black tea with ginger, cinnamon and frankincense under a bright citrus top, and it’s the bottle on our shelves most closely tied to LV Imagination. Hectic is brighter, more citrusy and more incense-led. Dynasty swaps the black tea for softer rooibos and adds suede, so it comes across warmer and more tactile, at roughly a third of the price.

Khadlaj Shiyaaka Snow (£29.99) is the other one worth a look, and some Fragrantica reviewers of Dynasty mention it by name. Snow is a clean citrus with a neroli-and-pepper heart over vetiver and cardamom. It’s fresher and more summery, with no tea and no suede. Choose Snow for warm days and Dynasty for everything else.

Other Dry, Refined Lattafas to Try

Tea fragrances are rare in the range, but Lattafa Emeer (£29.99) is the closest relative. It uses white tea with juniper and ambergris, so it’s cooler, cleaner and brighter than Dynasty’s warm rooibos and suede. For the ginger and woods, Lattafa Art of Universe (£29.99) pairs ginger with pear and cedar, a fresher, fruitier daytime option for spring. If the suede is what you like, Lattafa King of Arabia (£34.99) takes the leather side further with raspberry and osmanthus, a richer evening scent. Lattafa Dynasty FAQs

What does Lattafa Dynasty smell like?

A sharp, spicy opening of bergamot, ginger and clary sage with a hint of raspberry, then a warm heart of rooibos tea and smooth suede, settling onto dry amberwood, cedar and cashmeran. It’s clean, refined and not at all sugary.

What are the full Dynasty notes?

Top: bergamot, ginger, clary sage, nutmeg, raspberry. Heart: rooibos tea, suede. Base: amberwood, cedarwood, cashmeran. Fragrantica and Lattafa’s site agree. Ignore listings that add jasmine, rose or musk.

Is Lattafa Dynasty a dupe of LV Imagination?

Not officially. Lattafa makes no inspiration claim, but Fragrantica reviewers often compare it to Louis Vuitton Imagination and usually describe Dynasty as less soapy and more mature. Rooibos and suede replace Imagination’s black tea and neroli, so it’s a relative rather than a copy. Lattafa has no affiliation with Louis Vuitton.

How long does Dynasty last?

Fragrantica reviewers mostly describe it as long-lasting, with several saying it lasts all day on skin. Projection reports vary, so you’ll find it strong for some and closer to the skin for others.

Is Dynasty unisex?

Yes. Lattafa and Fragrantica list it for women and men. It leans slightly masculine through the ginger and woods, but it’s comfortable on anyone.

How much is Lattafa Dynasty in the UK?

£18.99 for 100ml at Khaleej Scents, reduced from £39.99, with free UK delivery and no minimum spend.

Why does the opening smell harsh?

The first ten minutes of ginger, clary sage and bergamot are deliberately sharp. Wait around thirty minutes for the rooibos and suede to come through before judging it, because most people who dislike Dynasty never get past the opening.

Notes verified against Fragrantica and lattafa.com in September 2026. The two sources list an identical pyramid. The launch year (2025) and perfumer (Alex Lee) are taken from Fragrantica. Comparisons come from Fragrantica reviewers and are not a manufacturer claim. We could not retrieve Fragrantica’s formal longevity and sillage vote breakdown, so the performance section summarises reviewer reports qualitatively. Written by Shaheen Shah Abrar, Khaleej Scents.
