Lattafa His Confession: Spiced Iris, Vanilla and Soft Smoke

His Confession is Lattafa’s 2024 take on the elegant, powdery iris scents that designer houses have made famous — and it has quickly become one of the most-rated men’s fragrances in the Lattafa perfumes range, with close to three thousand votes on Fragrantica. It opens warm and spiced with cinnamon, lavender and mandarin, settles into a creamy iris heart with benzoin, cypress and Mahonial, and finishes on vanilla, tonka, amber and a quiet thread of incense. The box itself says he “confesses his love to tonka bean”, which tells you where the sweetness in the drydown comes from.

The Scent Profile

Top — cinnamon, lavender, mandarin. A warm, aromatic start. Cinnamon gives a soft spice, lavender adds a clean barbershop edge, and mandarin a little brightness. Together they read smart and inviting rather than sharp.

Heart — iris, benzoin, cypress, Mahonial. The centre of the fragrance. Iris is powdery, slightly earthy and elegant; benzoin wraps it in a resinous, vanilla-like sweetness; cypress adds a dry, green woodiness. Mahonial is a modern aroma material with a fresh, airy, floral quality that keeps the heart from becoming too heavy.

Base — vanilla, tonka, amber, incense, cedarwood, patchouli. The drydown is warm and sweet, with vanilla and tonka at the front and amber behind them. Incense adds a soft smoky shadow, and cedar and patchouli ground it with a woody, earthy finish. This is where most of the compliments tend to come from.

How His Confession Compares to Dior Homme Intense

Lattafa does not name an inspiration. On its Fragrantica page, the comparison that comes up most is Dior Homme Intense, and Fragrantica reviewers often compare it to that fragrance. The shared ground is lavender and iris: Fragrantica lists Dior Homme Intense with lavender on top, iris, ambrette and pear in the heart, and cedar and vetiver in the base.

Where they part ways is sweetness and warmth. Dior Homme Intense is a cooler, drier, more austere iris. His Confession adds cinnamon, benzoin, vanilla, tonka, amber and incense, which makes it noticeably sweeter, spicier and more ambery. Reviewers also mention Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée, JPG Le Male Elixir and Valentino Uomo Intense — a sign that it sits somewhere between the refined iris and the sweet-tonka camps rather than tracking one reference closely.

Lattafa Perfumes is an independent UAE fragrance house with no affiliation to, licence from, or endorsement by Dior, Givenchy or any other brand named here. We mention them only to help you place the style.

His Confession Performance & When To Wear

Performance at a Glance
A qualitative read of Fragrantica reviewer reports — not our own figures, see the sourcing note below
LONGEVITY · generally good, with a long skin-scent tail
SILLAGE · moderate to strong in most reports
OFFICE SAFE · yes, with two sprays
VERSATILITY · autumn and winter, day into evening
BEST SEASONS
Autumn ●●●Winter ●●●Spring ●●○Summer ●○○

Most Fragrantica reviewers describe good, above-average performance with a long, soft skin-scent tail, though there are outliers at both ends — a few say it fades quickly, a few call it a sillage monster. Projection is most often described as moderate to strong. That is a reasonably settled picture, reflected qualitatively above, but not one we would reduce to a single hour figure.

The Fragrantica community places it in autumn and winter, with evenings and date nights coming up often. It is refined enough for the office with a light hand, and the cinnamon-vanilla-incense drydown really comes alive on cool evenings out.

Who It’s For

His Confession suits someone who wants to smell polished and grown-up — a tailored-jacket fragrance rather than a gym-bag one. Lattafa and Fragrantica list it for men, and reviewers regularly note that it leans unisex; the powdery iris and vanilla wear beautifully on anyone, which is why we list it in both. If you already enjoy Dior Homme-style iris but want more warmth and sweetness, or you love sweet tonka scents but want something more elegant, this sits right between the two.

How It Compares With the Other Houses We Stock

The closest relative on our shelves is Khadlaj Zayaan Gold (£29.99). Both open with cinnamon and lavender and both dry down to tonka and benzoin; Zayaan Gold adds syrupy plum, cardamom, davana and labdanum, making it fruitier and more boozy, while His Confession’s iris makes it more powdery and refined.

If it is the incense-and-amber side that appeals, Khadlaj Icon (£29.99) shares lavender, incense and amber but sets them against a fresh bergamot opening and a suede-sandalwood base. It is the fresher, less sweet option, with no iris or vanilla — a good contrast if you are deciding how powdery you want to go.

His Confession’s Other Half

His Confession was released with a partner bottle. Her Confession (£29.99) shares the incense but builds it around tuberose and vanilla, so it reads creamier and more floral than the iris and cinnamon here. If you like a powdery, spiced incense for cool days, stay with His; if you want something softer and sweeter for evenings, try Her. Both sit together on our Lattafa Confession page, and plenty of people happily wear either.

His Confession FAQs

What does Lattafa His Confession smell like?

A warm, powdery iris with spice and smoke. Cinnamon, lavender and mandarin open it; iris, benzoin and cypress form the heart; and it settles into vanilla, tonka, amber, incense, cedar and patchouli. Elegant, slightly sweet and softly smoky.

What are the full His Confession notes?

Top — cinnamon, lavender, mandarin; heart — iris, benzoin, cypress, Mahonial; base — vanilla, tonka, amber, incense, cedarwood, patchouli. Fragrantica and lattafa.com list the same thirteen notes.

Is His Confession a Dior Homme Intense dupe?

Lattafa does not claim it. Fragrantica reviewers often compare the two because both centre on lavender and powdery iris. His Confession is noticeably sweeter and warmer, thanks to cinnamon, vanilla, tonka, amber and incense that Dior Homme Intense does not have. Lattafa has no affiliation with Dior.

How long does His Confession last?

Most Fragrantica reviewers report good, above-average longevity with moderate-to-strong projection and a long skin-scent tail, though individual experiences vary.

Is His Confession for men or unisex?

Lattafa and Fragrantica list it for men, and reviewers often say it leans unisex. The powdery iris and vanilla suit anyone; we list it under both men’s and unisex.

How much is His Confession in the UK?

£28.99 for the 100ml Eau de Parfum at Khaleej Scents, with free UK delivery and no minimum spend — about 29p per millilitre.

What is Mahonial?

Mahonial is a modern aroma material used to create a fresh, airy, lightly floral effect. In His Confession it sits beside the iris in the heart, lifting the powderiness so the fragrance stays elegant rather than heavy.

Notes verified against Fragrantica and lattafa.com in September 2026; both list the same pyramid. Launch year (2024) is from Fragrantica; no perfumer is credited there. The Dior Homme Intense comparison reflects Fragrantica reviewer discussion, not a Lattafa claim; Dior Homme Intense’s notes are from its Fragrantica listing. Performance is a qualitative summary of Fragrantica reviewer reports — we have not invented figures. Written by Shaheen Shah Abrar, Khaleej Scents.
