Island is the fragrance that made Khadlaj a name in the UK. Juicy pineapple sharpened with iris, ginger and cypress, a creamy coconut-and-woods heart, and a warm tonka, sandalwood and amber base. It smells like a holiday, but a grown-up one — the iris keeps it from turning into a piña colada cliché.
The reason it sells so well is the comparison with Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Le Parfum. On Fragrantica the two share an identical note pyramid, ten notes for ten, and reviewers who own both regularly call Island as close as a clone gets. Khadlaj itself never names Gaultier: its own listing says Island is inspired by “tropical escape” and sunshine. The label comes from wearers.

Ten notes on Fragrantica. Khadlaj’s own listing gives the same pyramid but leaves ambergris out of the base — the only disagreement between the two sources.
Pineapple leads — sweet and juicy, but tempered by the clean, powdery edge of iris and a pinch of ginger so it never turns candied. Cypress adds a green, slightly resinous lift.
Creamy coconut — closer to coconut milk than sun cream — wrapped in soft woods that give the sweetness some structure. This is the beach-holiday part everyone recognises.
Tonka and sandalwood bring a soft, warm sweetness; amber and ambergris add a skin-like, slightly salty depth. The drydown is where reviewers say the Gaultier likeness is strongest.

How close is it, really? Closer than most comparisons we grade. Many Fragrantica reviewers call it a 1:1 or put it around 95% similar; one who wore both found Island’s opening brighter and fresher, with the Gaultier creamier and sweeter.
