Reef Perfumes · Dupe guide · Updated September 2026
Search “Reef dupes” and you will find two very different kinds of answer, often mixed together. One is what Reef’s own North American distributor says each scent “reminds” people of. The other is what wearers who have smelled both actually report. Most of the time they disagree. This guide puts the two side by side for every Reef fragrance people ask about, grades how well each comparison holds up, and shows that the most famous Reef of all is copied, not a copy.
Quick answer
What is Reef 33 a dupe of?
Reef 33 is not a dupe — it is the original that others follow. Reef’s distributor says it “reminds” people of Initio Oud for Greatness, but no reviewer we could find backs that. What wearers consistently say is that Reef 33 (2020) came before Gissah Imperial Valley (2021), and several call Imperial Valley and similar saffron-rosemary-oud scents clones of Reef 33. Its note list is as short as it gets: saffron, rosemary and oud. Reef 33 100ml is £88.95 with free UK delivery.

How We Graded Every Reef Comparison
Two sources matter here, and we keep them separate. Brand claims are the “Reminds Me Of” lines on Reef Perfumes North America’s product pages — marketing by Reef’s own distributor, not a test. Reef’s main Saudi store makes no dupe claims at all. Reviewer evidence is what named wearers wrote on each fragrance’s Fragrantica page. We ignored every unsourced “95% match” figure, and in the whole Reef range we found no side-by-side test and no percentage stated by a named reviewer.
Evidence strength of the best-supported comparison for each Reef
Our evidence score out of 10 (B = 6, B− = 5, C = 3, None = 1). It measures how well a comparison is supported — not similarity.
*Reef 33 is the earlier fragrance; reviewers describe Imperial Valley as following Reef 33, not the other way round.
Brand Claims vs What Reviewers Say
This is the table no other Reef dupe list publishes. The middle column is Reef’s own distributor; the right-hand column is what wearers actually write.
| Reef | Brand says it reminds you of | Reviewers actually say | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reef 33 | Initio Oud for Greatness | The original Imperial Valley-style DNA; others copy it | Original |
| Reef 33 White | Baccarat Rouge 540 (“fruity twist”) | No reviewer mentions BR540; a sweet berry-oud | C |
| Reef 31 | Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait | BR540 vibes in the saffron-amber drydown; others disagree | B− |
| Reef 15 (not stocked) | Tom Ford Oud Wood | PdM Percival / A&F Fierce; “there is no oud” | B− |

| Reef 11 (not stocked) | CH Bad Boy / Spicebomb | A soft jasmine-powder scent; one names YSL Libre | C |

Do reviewers back the brand’s own comparisons?
Each of Reef’s 14 “reminds me of” claims above, by how much reviewer support it has.
Partly supported: Reef 31 → BR540 Extrait and Reef 29 → BR540. Weak: Obaiah → Aventus. The brand’s claim is not the same as the answer reviewers give — for Reef 15, Summer Yellow and Obaiah, wearers name a different original entirely.

Reef 33 is the answer to most “what is it a dupe of” searches about this house, and the answer runs the other way. It is the scent that set a template other Gulf houses followed. The distributor’s comparison to Initio Oud for Greatness shares the saffron-and-oud idea, but no Fragrantica reviewer we found makes that link. Reviewers do compare it to Lattafa’s Bade’e Al Oud Oud for Glory as a close neighbour. Performance reports are mostly strong, with owners describing ten hours or more, though one owner reported a weaker batch.

The BR540 comparison comes from Reef’s distributor, which calls it BR540 with a fruity twist. The two share a saffron thread, but none of the reviews on 33 White’s Fragrantica page mention BR540 at all. Wearers describe a sweet red-fruit and smoky-wood scent that is softer and more powdery than the original Reef 33; one likens it to a sweeter Amouage Interlude Man without the incense, and one found the drydown harsh. Longevity reports are strong. Our 33 White vs Baccarat Rouge 540 page goes deeper on why they sit in the same aisle but are not the same scent.

Reef 31 B−
Reef 31 is the one Reef where the brand’s claim and the reviewers partly agree. Several wearers describe Baccarat Rouge vibes from the sweet saffron and amber, and one says the drydown “definitely has that DNA”, only more masculine. Others say plainly it is not a clone, and one reviewer finds it identical to Abdul Samad Al Qurashi’s Satin instead. Nobody has published a side-by-side. It is potent: one owner says one or two sprays fill a room and three is too many.

| Summer Yellow | YSL Libre | |

Two named Fragrantica reviewers find it extremely similar to Libre or Libre Intense, and one says it performs much better. Without Libre’s lavender, it is a nod rather than a clone. Oddly, Reef’s own distributor compares it to Burberry Her and YSL Mon Paris instead, and no reviewer backs that. Other wearers mention Adopt’s Cœur à Cœur, and one warns it needs time to settle after opening.

Arabs of Obaiah B−
The brand’s comparison is Creed Aventus, and it is fair only as far as the pineapple opening goes — one reviewer says you can draw the Aventus link but would never have noticed it unprompted. Aventus’s birch, oakmoss and musk base has nothing in common with Obaiah’s leather and oud. Wearers far more often compare it to Gissah Imperial Valley: a fruitier, more unisex take on the same DNA. Performance is described as very strong, especially in cool weather, but some find the pineapple sour.

Reef 19 None
Reef’s distributor says it recalls Gucci Bloom. No reviewer we found names a designer original at all. They describe a casual, clean floral musk for the office — one owner rates it well above Lattafa’s Ana Abiyedh White as the less synthetic of the two, while another found the musk overpowering. Moderate sillage, around six hours reported. Buy it for what it is. Note that “Reef 19 National Day” is a separate fragrance.

Reef 21 C
Nothing on Fragrantica supports the La Vie Est Belle line. The only reviewer comparison points to Arabian Oud’s Marshoud 4 and Sultani, a berry-patchouli-woods direction. Performance reports are split from twelve hours to barely any, which is worth knowing before you buy.

Reef Bluest C
The Luna Rossa Carbon comparison is the brand’s own, and we could not find a single independent review to test it against — Bluest has no Fragrantica page. Reef’s two official sites also disagree on its heart note: the Saudi store lists orris, the North American site lists lavender. The lavender version would sit closer to Carbon’s lavender-ambroxan idea; the orris version less so. Its big draw is the 200ml bottle. There is no separate “Reef Blue” — searches for it lead here.

What is Reef 15 a dupe of? PdM Percival and A&F Fierce (B−). The brand says Tom Ford Oud Wood; the wearers say otherwise. Several independent Fragrantica reviewers call it a Percival-style fresh scent or “Fierce on steroids”, with good projection — and one states flatly that there is no oud in it. Fragrantica lists it as REEF15 (2024) with bergamot and oud; Reef’s own listing adds lily of the valley and “oud sidr”. We don’t currently stock Reef 15. REEF15 · Percival · Fierce
What is Reef 11 a dupe of? Nothing convincing (C). The brand names CH Bad Boy and Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb, but reviewers describe a soft, feminine-leaning pink pepper, jasmine and sandalwood scent that sounds nothing like either. One reviewer mentions YSL Libre with added spice. Reef names Reef 11 as its first notable launch, before Reef 33. Several owners say it is weak at first and much stronger after a month. We don’t currently stock it. Reef 11 on Fragrantica
Reef 29 → Baccarat Rouge 540 (C). Saffron, iris and amber; the brand says BR540 and some reviewers call it a sweeter, bolder take, while others point to Xerjoff Torino22. Reef Titan → Versace Eros (None). A brand claim no reviewer supports; wearers describe a fruity floral closer to Chanel Coco Noir. Summer Tiffany is compared by two reviewers to PdM Valaya, more metallic, while the brand says Escada Cherry in the Air. Summer Pink has no consistent answer at all.

Want the Reef 33 direction for less? Reviewers name Lattafa’s Bade’e Al Oud Oud for Glory (£19.49) as a close neighbour — saffron, oud and patchouli. It is its own fragrance, not a Reef 33 copy, but it is the budget option in the same aisle.
Reef Dupes: FAQs
Quick answers to what buyers search for most. Tap a question to open it.
What is Reef 33 a dupe of?
Reef 33 is not a dupe. It launched in 2020, before Gissah Imperial Valley (2021), and reviewers describe Imperial Valley and similar saffron-rosemary-oud scents as following Reef 33. Reef’s North American distributor says it reminds people of Initio Oud for Greatness, but no reviewer we found supports that.
What is Reef 15 a dupe of?
Reviewers compare Reef 15 to Parfums de Marly Percival and Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce, describing it as a fresh scent with strong projection. The brand’s own comparison, Tom Ford Oud Wood, is not supported by wearers, and one says there is no oud in it.
What is Reef 31 a dupe of?
The brand compares it to Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, and some reviewers agree the saffron-amber drydown shares that DNA, more masculine. Others say it is not a clone, and one finds it closer to Abdul Samad Al Qurashi Satin. We grade it B−.
What is Reef 33 White a dupe of?
Reef’s distributor calls it Baccarat Rouge 540 with a fruity twist, but no reviewer on its Fragrantica page mentions BR540. Wearers describe a sweet red-berry and smoky oud scent, softer than the original Reef 33.
What is Reef 11 a dupe of?
Nothing convincing. The brand names Carolina Herrera Bad Boy and Spicebomb, but reviewers describe a soft pink pepper, jasmine and sandalwood scent, and one likens it to YSL Libre with spice.
What is Reef 19 a dupe of?
The brand says Gucci Bloom, but no reviewer names a designer original. It is described as a clean lily of the valley, jasmine and white musk scent suited to the office.
What is Reef Summer Yellow a dupe of?
Reviewers compare it to YSL Libre and Libre Intense, sharing orange blossom, blackcurrant and vanilla but without Libre’s lavender, and say it performs more strongly. The brand’s own comparison is Burberry Her and YSL Mon Paris.
Is Arabs of Obaiah a Creed Aventus dupe?
Only loosely. The pineapple opening recalls Aventus, but the leather and oud base is completely different. Reviewers more often compare it to Gissah Imperial Valley, fruitier and more unisex.
Is Reef a dupe brand?
No. Reef is a Saudi house whose main store makes no dupe claims, and its flagship Reef 33 is the scent others follow. The “reminds me of” lines come from its North American distributor, and most of them are not supported by reviewers.
What Changed in This Update
- New: the brand-claim vs reviewer-evidence table, and entries for Reef 15, Reef 11, Reef 29, Titan and the Summer colours.
- Corrected: Arabs of Obaiah is most often compared to Gissah Imperial Valley, not Aventus; Reef 33 White’s BR540 link is a brand claim that no reviewer repeats.
- Kept: Summer Yellow’s YSL Libre comparison and Reef 31’s partial BR540 drydown — both still supported by named reviewers.
