Lattafa Atlas smells like the sea itself. Salty sea notes and lemon open it, davana and iris soften the heart, and it finishes on ambergris, oakmoss and sandalwood. It’s loud, polarising and long-lasting, and Fragrantica reviewers often compare it to Orto Parisi Megamare. 100ml Eau de Parfum, £21.99, free UK delivery.

Lattafa Atlas: Salt Spray, Soft Iris and Warm Ambergris

Most “aquatic” fragrances smell of shower gel. Atlas smells of seawater. The first spray is briny and mineral, sea notes and salt with a sharp squeeze of lemon, and it feels almost physical. After that the fragrance does something unexpected: davana brings a soft, faintly fruity warmth and iris adds a cool powder, pulling the raw opening into something more wearable. The base is ambergris, oakmoss and sandalwood, warm, salty-skin and a little earthy. Atlas (أطلس) launched in 2024 and has more than 3,000 Fragrantica votes averaging 4.14. It’s one of the most talked-about marines in the Lattafa perfumes range, though not everyone who talks about it likes it.

The Scent Profile

Top — sea notes, salt, lemon. The opening is raw and briny, closer to a wet rock at low tide than a beach cocktail. Lemon stops it feeling heavy. Fragrantica’s accord chart puts marine and salty right at the top, and on skin it’s unmistakable.

Heart — davana, iris. This is the softening stage. Davana has a warm, slightly boozy, fruity quality, and iris adds a cool, powdery polish. Together they round off the saltiness and make the fragrance feel more refined than the opening suggests.

Base — ambergris, oakmoss, sandalwood. The drydown is the reward. Ambergris gives a warm, salty-skin glow, oakmoss adds an earthy, mossy depth, and sandalwood provides a creamy base that holds on for a long time. It keeps the marine character but warms it up.

How Atlas Compares — the Honest Version

Lattafa describes Atlas as capturing “the sea’s essence” and names no inspiration. The comparison comes from the community, and it’s a strong one. On Fragrantica, Orto Parisi Megamare comes up far more than any other reference, and reviewers mention it dozens of times. The general view is that Atlas shares Megamare’s salty-ambergris profile but is more wearable. Megamare’s famously extreme, animalic seaweed edge is softened here by the davana and iris. Other names that come up occasionally include D&G Light Blue Pour Homme, Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt and the Acqua di Giò line. We won’t put a percentage on the Megamare match, because nobody has measured one objectively. It’s a close relative that’s easier to wear, not a replica.

Performance is where Fragrantica reviewers are most united. Across more than 470 reviews, Atlas is consistently described as having enormous projection, with some reviewers calling it nuclear, and very long wear on skin. Several also report it staying on clothing for days, sometimes weeks. We couldn’t retrieve the formal vote breakdown, so the bars reflect that consensus rather than a precise score.

Marine and salt notes can cause nose blindness quickly, so you may stop smelling Atlas on yourself long before other people do. Don’t reapply because you think it has faded. Wear it in spring and summer, outdoors, at the coast or on warm days. One or two sprays is the ceiling, and indoors one is plenty.

Who It’s For

Atlas is for people who want a marine fragrance that actually smells of the sea and don’t mind being noticed. Fragrantica lists it for women and men. Lattafa’s own site files it under men’s, and it’s bought mostly by men, but the salt-and-ambergris profile doesn’t lean either way. Skip it if you want an inoffensive office scent. It’s deliberately polarising, and some people step back from the opening.

How It Compares With the Other Houses We Stock

Riiffs Costa de Amalfi (£24.99) is the gentle alternative. It pairs lemon peel, yuzu and green mandarin with ginger and clary sage over a mineral-amber-cedar base, which gives a dry, stony coastal feel. The two share a salty-mineral idea, but Costa de Amalfi is quiet and office-safe where Atlas is loud and briny. Pick Costa de Amalfi for the desk and Atlas for the beach.

For a clean citrus rather than a marine, Khadlaj Shiyaaka Snow (£29.99) offers mandarin and bergamot over neroli and pepper, finishing on vetiver and cardamom. It’s fresh and soapy with no salt at all, a much safer everyday choice, though it has none of Atlas’s drama.

More Sea Air from Lattafa

Lattafa Asad Zanzibar (£15.49) shares Atlas’s salt and iris but adds coconut water, which makes it softer and more tropical, and easier to wear in the heat. Lattafa Asad Zanzibar Limited Edition (£18.99) keeps the marine side with soap and amber, a cleaner, fresher option for daytime. If it’s the ambergris you enjoy, Lattafa Emeer (£29.99) sets it with juniper and white tea, drier and more refined, with no salt at all. The rest of the range is in our Lattafa perfumes collection.

Lattafa Atlas FAQs

What does Lattafa Atlas smell like?

Seawater. Briny sea notes, salt and lemon open it, davana and iris soften the heart, and it settles onto warm ambergris, mossy oakmoss and creamy sandalwood. It’s raw at first and warm and salty-skin later.

What are the full Atlas notes?

Top: sea notes, salt, lemon. Heart: davana, iris. Base: ambergris, oakmoss, sandalwood. Fragrantica and lattafa.com agree.

Is Atlas a Megamare dupe?

It’s by far the most common comparison among Fragrantica reviewers. They generally say Atlas shares Megamare’s salty-ambergris profile with a softer, less animalic edge. Lattafa makes no official claim and has no affiliation with Orto Parisi.

How long does Atlas last?

Fragrantica reviewers consistently describe it as very long-lasting, with huge projection, and it stays on clothing for days. Because of nose blindness, others will smell it long after you stop noticing it.

How many sprays should I use?

One or two at most, and one indoors. Over-spraying is the most common mistake with Atlas.

Is Atlas for men or women?

Fragrantica lists it for women and men. Lattafa’s site files it under men’s, but salt and ambergris don’t lean either way.

How much is Lattafa Atlas in the UK?

£21.99 for 100ml at Khaleej Scents, with free UK delivery and no minimum spend.

Notes verified against Fragrantica and lattafa.com in September 2026. The two sources list an identical pyramid. The launch year (2024) is taken from Fragrantica; no perfumer is credited. Comparisons come from Fragrantica reviewers and are not a manufacturer claim. We could not retrieve Fragrantica’s formal longevity and sillage vote breakdown, so the performance section summarises the reviewer consensus qualitatively.
