Costa de Amalfi opens like a cold drink on a hot terrace: lemon peel, green mandarin and yuzu, more rind than juice, dry rather than sweet. Chosen for texture rather than sweetness: lemon peel is bitter, waxy zest; green mandarin is the sharper unripe fruit; yuzu adds a grapefruit-like sourness. Fragrantica reviewers single this phase out as “one of the most beautiful, clean mandarin scents” in recent years.
A two-note heart that works. Ginger is dry and peppery rather than candied, taking over the warmth as the citrus fades; clary sage is herbal and hay-like, stopping the composition from reading as shower gel.

Costa de Amalfi vs Afternoon Swim and Fico di Amalfi — Why We Don’t Call It a Dupe
Two comparisons circulate. The Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim one started with a TikTok creator whose post disclosed the bottle was gifted by a retailer; on Fragrantica, Otavio2509 calls Costa “a cheap, more synthetic and a little more feminine version of afternoon swim”. The Acqua di Parma Fico di Amalfi one is contested: Him1000 sees “a much less sweet version”, while KevaoDaGalera, who owns Fico di Amalfi, says “it is nothing like it”. The honest version: Afternoon Swim is an orange fragrance — round and radiant. Costa de Amalfi is a lemon-and-yuzu fragrance — sharper, greener, with a herbal sage and cedar structure Louis Vuitton doesn’t have. They share a mood and a ginger accent. That is a C, not a dupe.
