Lattafa Opulent Oud is a proper oud: warm saffron and cinnamon up front, oud and rose at the heart, then a long, dry finish of oud, amber and cedar. It is bold, spicy and built for cold weather, with the kind of projection Fragrantica reviewers call room-filling. 100ml Eau de Parfum, £13.99, free UK delivery.

Lattafa Opulent Oud: Saffron, Rose and a Serious Oud Base

Opulent Oud does what the name says. It opens with warm saffron and a touch of cinnamon, moves into a rose-and-oud heart, and dries down to oud, amber and cedarwood. Fragrantica dates it to 2018, making it one of the older fragrances in the current Lattafa line-up, and it belongs to the classic Middle Eastern oud tradition rather than to the sweet gourmands Lattafa is best known for today. Our Lattafa perfumes collection has plenty of those; this is the bottle for people who want oud to be the main event, at a price that makes it very easy to try.

The Scent Profile

Top — saffron, cinnamon. Saffron sets the tone straight away, with the slightly metallic, leathery warmth that signals an Arabian oud. Cinnamon adds a dry spice that makes the opening feel warm rather than sharp.

Heart — oud, rose. The pairing at the centre of countless Middle Eastern fragrances. Rose softens the oud and gives it a faintly floral, jammy roundness; the oud gives the rose weight and darkness. Fragrantica voters rank oud and warm spice as the leading accords, with rose close behind.

Base — oud, amber, cedarwood. The oud carries on into the dry-down, now joined by amber for warmth and cedar for a dry, woody structure. Reviewers describe a leathery, slightly metallic finish that lasts a very long time.

A note on sources. We have used the pyramid on Fragrantica, which an independent fragrance database also repeats. Lattafa’s own product page could not be reached when we checked. Lattafa’s Indian site lists a longer pyramid: saffron, floral notes and citrus on top; oud, amber and caramel in the heart; resins, woods, vanilla, patchouli and musk in the base. Both sources agree on saffron, oud, amber and woods, which is the core of the fragrance. The Indian listing suggests a slightly sweeter, more resinous dry-down than Fragrantica’s plainer list does. We have gone with Fragrantica’s version because it is the one the reviews describe most closely, but we wanted you to see both.

How It Compares — the Honest Version

Lattafa does not name an inspiration for Opulent Oud. Fragrantica reviewers often compare it to Armani Privé Oud Royal, and several also mention Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud and Lattafa’s own Oud Mood and Sheikh Al Shuyukh. The shared ground is the saffron, rose and oud structure. Reviewers who make the Armani comparison generally describe a family resemblance, not a match: Opulent Oud is louder, spicier and rougher-edged, where a designer oud of that kind is smoother and more polished. We would not describe it as a copy of anything.

Lattafa Perfumes is an independent UAE house with no affiliation to, licence from, or endorsement by Giorgio Armani, Swiss Arabian or any other brand named here. We name them only to help you place the style.

Performance & When To Wear

Performance at a Glance
Based on the pattern in Fragrantica reviews — not our own figures
LONGEVITY · long-lasting to very long — reviewers report 6–12+ hours
SILLAGE · strong to enormous — can fill a room
OFFICE SAFE · only with a very light hand
VERSATILITY · cold weather and evenings; heavy in heat
BEST SEASONS
Winter ●●●Autumn ●●●Spring ●○○Summer ●○○

This is a powerful fragrance. Fragrantica reviewers mostly describe it as long-lasting to eternal, with reports running from six to twelve hours and beyond; several call it “beast mode”. Projection reports run from strong to enormous, and one reviewer says three or four sprays is enough to fill a room. A few find it settles closer to the skin after several hours, but that is the exception.

The advice follows from that: one or two sprays, not five. Reviewers are clear that it belongs in cold weather, where the saffron and oud read as warm and rich, and several describe it as suffocating in heat. Autumn and winter evenings, occasions and outdoor wear are where it works best; a small, warm office is not.

Who It’s For

Opulent Oud is for people who already know they like oud, or who want to find out cheaply whether they do, and are comfortable with a scent that announces itself. It is listed as unisex, and the rose keeps it from being purely masculine, though many wearers treat it as a men’s evening fragrance.

Skip it if you want something fresh, sweet or discreet, or if oud has ever struck you as medicinal. This is not a gentle introduction to the material.

How It Compares With the Other Houses We Stock

The obvious neighbour is Reef 33 (£88.95), the saffron-and-oud fragrance that set a template for a whole generation of Arabian scents. Both open on saffron and finish on oud, but Reef 33 uses a sharp, herbal rosemary in the middle where Opulent Oud uses rose and cinnamon. Reef 33 is drier, more aromatic and more pared-back; Opulent Oud is warmer, spicier and more floral, at a fraction of the price.

For the rose-and-oud side taken further, Bujairami Mad Love (£49.99) builds on raspberry, saffron and geranium over rose, birch, suede and incense, landing on oud, benzoin and amberwood. It is darker, smokier and more layered, and it is an Extrait de Parfum. Opulent Oud is the simpler, more direct version of the same saffron-rose-oud idea.

The Fresher Opulent

Opulent Oud has a sunnier sibling: Opulent Dubai (£14.99). Instead of saffron, oud and rose, it opens on juicy mango with ginger and a mossy oakmoss finish, so it suits warm days far better. Keep Opulent Oud for autumn and winter nights, and let Dubai cover spring and summer. Both are on our Lattafa Opulent page.

Lattafa Opulent Oud FAQs

What does Lattafa Opulent Oud smell like?

Warm saffron and cinnamon, then rose over oud, drying down to oud, amber and cedar. Spicy, woody, slightly leathery and metallic, in the classic Middle Eastern style. It is a real oud fragrance, not a fresh or sweet one.

What are the full Opulent Oud notes?

On Fragrantica: top: saffron, cinnamon; heart: oud (agarwood), rose; base: oud, amber, cedarwood. Lattafa’s Indian site lists saffron, florals and citrus; oud, amber and caramel; then resins, woods, vanilla, patchouli and musk. Both agree on saffron, oud, amber and woods.

Is Opulent Oud a dupe of Armani Oud Royal?

Lattafa does not say so. Fragrantica reviewers often compare it to Armani Privé Oud Royal, because both are built on saffron, rose and oud. Reviewers describe Opulent Oud as louder and rougher, so treat it as a similar style rather than a copy. Lattafa has no affiliation with Armani.

How long does Opulent Oud last?

A long time. Fragrantica reviewers mostly rate it long-lasting to eternal, with reports of six to twelve hours and more, and projection from strong to room-filling. One or two sprays is enough.

Is Opulent Oud for men or women?

It is listed as unisex. The rose keeps it wearable for anyone who likes oud, though many wearers treat it as a men’s evening scent.

How much is Lattafa Opulent Oud in the UK?

£13.99 for the 100ml Eau de Parfum at Khaleej Scents, with free UK delivery and no minimum spend.

Is Opulent Oud the same as Opulent Dubai or Opulent Blue Oud?

No. Lattafa uses the “Opulent” name on several unrelated fragrances. Opulent Dubai is a fruity mango scent and Opulent Blue Oud is a separate release. This listing is the original 2018 Opulent Oud, the saffron-and-oud one.

Notes verified against Fragrantica in September 2026. Lattafa’s own product page could not be reached; Lattafa’s Indian site lists a longer pyramid, which we have shown alongside. Launch year is from Fragrantica, which shows no perfumer. Performance reflects the pattern across Fragrantica reviews, not our own measurements. The Armani comparison is reviewers’, not the brand’s.
