Raspberry and oud should not work together, and yet the pairing became one of the defining luxury scents of the last decade. Louis Vuitton’s Ombre Nomade made it famous — and priced it well out of reach for most people. Khadlaj Oud Noir has been quietly offering the same idea since 2018 for the price of a takeaway.
It is a fruity-woody oud: tart raspberry and dusty saffron up top, a rose-and-incense heart with earthy cypriol, and a base of oud, amber and patchouli. Khadlaj sells it as an original and makes no “inspired by” claim, but wearers have made the Ombre Nomade connection for years. If you want that raspberry-rose-oud direction at extrait strength and with the smoke turned up, Bujairami’s Mad Love is the one the brand itself says is inspired by Ombre Nomade. Oud Noir is the budget-friendly, fruit-forward way in.
The Oud Noir Scent Pyramid at a Glance
Khadlaj’s own listing and Fragrantica agree on the structure. The brand adds a general “spicy” accord in the top and calls the base “ambery accords”; Fragrantica simply lists amber.
Raspberry leads — juicy but tart, closer to crushed berries than sweets — with saffron’s warm, leathery spice and a peppery lift. Some wearers find the first few minutes sharp before it settles.
The grown-up middle. A full rose keeps the fruit company, incense adds a cool resinous smoke, and cypriol — an earthy, woody root note often used to support oud — bridges into the base.

How close is it? On Fragrantica, reviewer Ra__mmi says it “smells 90% like louis vuitton ombre nomade” with very good projection and sillage; Felice62 calls it a “personal take on Ombre Nomade” that “captured its soul”, with the fruit more prominent. Another reviewer, scentednebula, is reminded more of Gucci Intense Oud and calls it a “safer, budget friendly, beginner’s oud”. That spread is why we grade it B+: the same DNA is clearly there, but Ombre Nomade’s birch-smoke and benzoin depth is not fully reproduced.

Performance — What Wearers Report
Not our lab numbers. On Fragrantica, wearers describe it as long-lasting and strong: Danvenrit reports about six hours plus two more as a skin scent, AstrumDeus gets about ten hours on skin, and Ra__mmi notes very good projection “especially in cold weather”. It is potent — two sprays is plenty.
