Arabiyat Prestige Mahd Al Dhahab — The Boozy-Berry Bottle Wearers Call a Drunk Lovers Twin

Grapefruit · Bergamot · Red Berries · Juniper · Clary Sage · Cypress · Ginger · Sandalwood · Patchouli · Vanilla · Amber — 100ml Eau de Parfum, 100% authentic, free UK delivery.

Mahd Al Dhahab translates roughly as “cradle of gold”. It opens bright and fruity — grapefruit and bergamot with red berries and a gin-like flick of juniper — but there is richness underneath from the first spray. Ginger, clary sage and cypress give the middle a dry, herbal warmth, and the base rolls in as creamy vanilla, sandalwood, amber and patchouli. Many wearers describe the overall effect as boozy, as though the berries had been soaked in cognac.

Why it has a following. Arabiyat Prestige doesn’t name an inspiration, but on Fragrantica well over a dozen reviewers compare it to BORNTOSTANDOUT’s Drunk Lovers. When we lined up the brand’s own note list against Drunk Lovers’, every single note matched. We show the count below, and we’re just as clear about the one thing that doesn’t match: how long it lasts.

The Mahd Al Dhahab Scent Pyramid

Eleven notes, exactly as Arabiyat Prestige lists them on its own UK site (and on the box, according to Fragrantica reviewer DownHomeBluesBro). Fragrantica shows a different, oud-based list — more on that underneath.

The berries lead — jammy and liqueur-like rather than garden-fresh — with grapefruit and bergamot cutting through and juniper adding a faint gin sharpness at the edges.

Ginger for warmth without heat, clary sage for a herbal dryness, cypress for a clean resinous thread. This is where it stops being fruity and starts being composed.

Creamy, powdery vanilla is the through-line; sandalwood adds silk, amber the golden glow the name promises, patchouli an earthy anchor.

Why Fragrantica shows oud

Fragrantica’s page lists spices, bergamot and lemon; amber, patchouli and oud; vanilla, sandalwood and white musk. That differs from the brand’s own list above, which has no oud at all. We go with the brand’s version because it is what the brand publishes, because a reviewer reports the same list on the box, and because it matches what wearers describe: boozy berries, not oud.

Mahd Al Dhahab vs Drunk Lovers — the Note Count

Drunk Lovers (BORNTOSTANDOUT, 2023) has a long pyramid on Fragrantica: cognac, red berries, juniper, grapefruit, bergamot and lemon on top; ginger, pepper, clary sage and cypress in the heart; and a base of vanilla, amber, sandalwood, benzoin, musk, cedar, cinnamon, cardamom, patchouli and vetiver. All eleven of the notes Arabiyat Prestige lists for Mahd Al Dhahab are in there.

Shared notes Grapefruit, bergamot, red berries, juniper, clary sage, cypress, ginger, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, amber ✓ 11 of 11
Only in one — Cognac, lemon, pepper, benzoin, musk, cedar, cinnamon, cardamom, vetiver
Intensity Softer, per reviewers “Much more intense” (VinnyVidi)

Our grade A− — complete note match and many named reviewers; not brand-stated, and less intense

✓ Berry-grapefruit-juniper top✓ Ginger-sage-cypress heart✓ Vanilla-sandalwood base✕ Quieter — no listed cognac

Drunk Lovers is the louder original. Mahd Al Dhahab is the same recipe, dialled down.

What named reviewers say. On Fragrantica, LilMajnoon writes that “Mahd Al Dhahab is like 90% match to original”; VinnyVidi compared them on tester strips and found them “almost identical… The OG Drunk Lovers is just much more intense”; and Simmyx98 says it “smells near enough the same”. One reviewer, Conor7980, also sees Valentino Born in Roma Coral Fantasy in it. Arabiyat Prestige has no affiliation with BORNTOSTANDOUT.

Performance — the Honest Split

ProjectionModerate to soft, per most reviewers
MacerationSeveral say it improves with time
Consistent hours figureReports split too far — we won’t guess

This is the most divided performance record in the range. On Fragrantica, Kshir reports “a decent 7-8 hours”, Lilwizprince “7–10 hours” and Ahmed-ghost07 “more than 12 hours” as a skin scent — while AMZ7 says “longevity leaves a lot to be desired” and others report only a couple of hours from a fresh bottle, improving after it has rested. With that range, one number would be misleading. What’s consistent: it wears softer than Drunk Lovers.

Good to Know Before You Buy

  • No oud, despite what you may read. The brand’s list has none; the oud version comes from Fragrantica’s page.
  • Softer than Drunk Lovers. Reviewers who own both agree the scent is close but the original is louder.
  • Give a fresh bottle time. Several wearers say performance improves after it has rested for a few weeks.
  • Genuinely unisex. Berries and vanilla on one side, juniper, cypress and patchouli on the other.

Why Buy Mahd Al Dhahab From Khaleej Scents

Every bottle is genuine Arabiyat Prestige, sourced from authorised distribution. We check every note list against the brand’s own listing and independent sources such as Fragrantica, and we describe performance from what wearers consistently report rather than from our own lab claims. When the reports split as sharply as they do here, we show you the split.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tap a question to open the answer.

Is Mahd Al Dhahab a Drunk Lovers dupe?
It is the comparison wearers make most, and the notes support it: all 11 notes on Arabiyat Prestige’s list appear in Drunk Lovers’ pyramid. One Fragrantica reviewer calls it a 90% match; another found them almost identical on strips but the original much more intense. The brand does not claim it. We grade it A−. Arabiyat Prestige has no affiliation with BORNTOSTANDOUT.
How long does Mahd Al Dhahab last?
Reports are sharply split. Some Fragrantica reviewers get 7–10 hours or more; others find it fades quickly, especially from a fresh bottle. We won’t quote one number. Most agree projection is moderate to soft.
Does Mahd Al Dhahab contain oud?
Not according to Arabiyat Prestige. The brand’s list is grapefruit, bergamot, red berries, juniper, clary sage, cypress, ginger, sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla and amber. Fragrantica’s page shows oud, but that differs from the brand and from the box.
What does Mahd Al Dhahab smell like?
Jammy red berries and grapefruit with a gin-like juniper edge, warming through ginger, clary sage and cypress into creamy vanilla, sandalwood, amber and patchouli. Wearers often call it boozy.
Is Mahd Al Dhahab unisex?
Yes. It is sold as unisex and wears that way: the berries and vanilla lean sweet, while juniper, cypress and patchouli keep it dry.
Mahd Al Dhahab vs Lattafa Fire On Ice — which is boozier?
Fire On Ice lists cognac and raspberry outright, with rose, in a 110ml bottle at £28.99. Mahd Al Dhahab gets its boozy feel from berries, juniper and vanilla and has a drier, herbal heart. Choose Mahd Al Dhahab for the Drunk Lovers profile.
How much is Mahd Al Dhahab in the UK?
£39.99 for the 100ml Eau de Parfum at Khaleej Scents, with free UK delivery on every order.
