Khadlaj Fursan Brown — The Smoky Woody Bottle Wearers Compare to Oud Maracujá
Bergamot · Cade · Nutmeg · Sandalwood · Cedarwood · Patchouli · Amber — 100ml Eau de Parfum, 100% authentic, free UK delivery.
Fursan Brown is the hardest-hitting thing Khadlaj sells, and one of the most intriguing. The published notes are simple — bergamot and smoky cade, nutmeg and sandalwood, cedar, patchouli and amber. What wearers describe is something the list doesn’t mention: a fruity, almost passion-fruit opening over smoky leather and dark woods.
That fruit-and-leather impression is why it is so often compared to Maison Crivelli Oud Maracujá. On Fragrantica one reviewer calls it Oud Maracujá “with less maracuja”; our own reading of the evidence is that it matches the established clones of Oud Maracujá more closely than the original. Khadlaj itself names no inspiration. We grade the claim B+ in our Khadlaj dupes guide.
It is also the opposite of its sibling. Where Fursan White is a soft powdery vanilla, Fursan Brown is bold and divisive — see Fursan White vs Fursan Brown before you choose.
The Scent Pyramid at a Glance
Seven notes on Khadlaj’s own listing. Fragrantica lists six — it leaves out the cade — but otherwise agrees.
Zesty bergamot against the dark, tarry smoke of cade (juniper wood). This is where many wearers pick up a fruity, passion-fruit-like brightness the note list doesn’t name.
Warm nutmeg and creamy sandalwood soften the smoke. Several wearers describe a leathery, oud-like thread running through this stage.
Dry cedar, earthy patchouli and resinous amber — a deep, warm, slightly sweet base that is the reason this bottle lasts so long.

Fursan Brown vs Oud Maracujá — Why the Notes Don’t Tell the Story
This is an unusual comparison. On paper the two barely overlap. On skin, wearers keep reaching for the same reference.

| Published notes | Bergamot, cade, nutmeg, sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, amber | Passion fruit, fruity notes, saffron, rose, oud, benzoin, patchouli leaf, leather, akigalawood, amber, vanilla, labdanum |

| Our grade | B+ — same effect on skin; closest to the established clones | |
Don’t judge this one by its note list. Judge it by what people who wear it describe.
How close is it? Reviewers describe the effect rather than the ingredients — a juicy fruit accord over smoky leather — and one Fragrantica reviewer sums it up as Oud Maracujá with less maracuja. Another likens it to Frédéric Malle’s The Moon. Our reading is that it sits closest to the well-known budget clones of Oud Maracujá, which are themselves more finely blended. Maison Crivelli has no affiliation with Khadlaj, and we have not shown a price comparison because we did not verify a UK RRP on the brand’s own site.
Performance — What Wearers Report
On Fragrantica one reviewer says it “lasts forever on my skin, 12 plus hours”; another could still smell it a day after spraying and calls the performance “nuclear”, advising two or three sprays at most. That matches everything else we have read about this bottle. It settles and blends about an hour in.

Good to Know Before You Buy
- Not a safe blind buy. Fruity oud-leather is a love-it-or-hate-it style. If you can, try it first.
- Use restraint. Two sprays is plenty. Overspraying is the most common complaint.
- The notes undersell it. Expect fruit and leather that the official pyramid doesn’t mention.
- Cold-weather bottle. Autumn and winter evenings suit its smoky, resinous warmth.
