Riiffs Seasons Drift: Lemon Zest, Grapefruit, Cedar and Amber
Seasons Drift is a citrus fragrance that knows it is one and does not pretend otherwise. The opening is lemon zest and grapefruit, sharp and rindy rather than juicy, with pink pepper adding a dry crackle — bright for fifteen minutes, then fading as citrus does. What is left is the better part. Cedar comes up quickly and gives the middle a pencil-shaving dryness, clary sage adds a green herbaceous edge, and ginger sits between them with a warm, fizzy bite that stops it turning cold. Labdanum and resin add a soft sweet-balsamic weight, sandalwood smooths the woods, amber rounds the last hours. It is clean, dry, faintly sweet at the bottom, close to the skin after an hour, never loud. It is the fresh, quiet, daytime half of the Riiffs perfumes UK catalogue, closer to Freeze and Costa de Amalfi than to any of the house’s gourmands — and genuinely, unusually office-safe, which is its strongest suit.
Read this before you buy either Seasons. Rise and Drift are constantly confused and completely different. Seasons Rise is a sweet spiced amber gourmand — cinnamon, caramel, toffee, praline — heavy and loud, for winter evenings. This one is a fresh citrus aromatic woody, light and quiet, for daytime. They share a name and a bottle size and nothing else. Nor is “Seasons” a real collection: no Riiffs site has a Seasons category page, and its UK navigation has four collection nodes — Perfume for Men, Perfume for Women, Unisex Perfume, Privé Perfume. Privé is a genuine sub-range; Seasons is not. The naming is unstable too — UAE Seasons Drift, UK Season Drift, Parfumo plain “Drift”. We use the plural.
The Scent Profile
Top — lemon zest, pink pepper, grapefruit. Sharp, dry and short. Zest rather than juice: the bitter, oily, slightly green quality of the peel. Grapefruit adds the faintly sulphurous, mouth-watering edge good grapefruit accords have, and pink pepper gives the crackle that stops it reading as lemon squash. It is well made and the most attention-grabbing part of the fragrance. But twenty minutes is all you get: citrus is the least durable material family in perfumery and no trickery changes that at this price. Buy the bottle for the opening and you will be re-spraying constantly.
Heart — cedar, clary sage, ginger. The real body, and it arrives sooner than you expect, often within the first half hour. Cedar dominates: dry, pencil-shaving, slightly pointed. Clary sage brings herbaceous bitterness and a faint tobacco-ish greenness. Ginger is the one warming element, fizzy and a bit spicy, working against the cedar so it does not go austere. Drift lives here from minute thirty to hour four, in an unfussy, slightly generic fresh-woody accord. That is a compliment as much as a criticism: it is what makes a fragrance wearable in a shared office.
Base — labdanum, sandalwood, resin, amber. Soft, and where the fragrance quietly gains a little sweetness. Labdanum brings a warm, ambery, faintly leathery balsamic depth, resin a sticky incense-adjacent thickness, sandalwood smooths the cedar’s edges, amber rounds it off. It stops Drift being a purely functional cologne. It is also the weakest link in performance: by five hours on most skin it is a skin-scent, noticeable on your own wrist and to nobody else — less a defect than the consequence of a citrus-led composition with no heavy fixatives above it.
Is There a Seasons Drift Dupe Claim?
No, and we checked properly. Riiffs makes no inspired-by claim, no reseller attaches a reference fragrance, and no reviewer we found has named a designer comparison. A fresh citrus-woody with pink pepper and cedar usually attracts a dozen “smells like” claims, so the silence is notable and we read it in the fragrance’s favour.
Distrust any listing that does attach a designer name: there is no source for such a claim, and it was invented to move stock. Riiffs Parfums is an independent Dubai fragrance house with no affiliation to, licence from, or endorsement by any designer brand, and none is named here because none has any connection to this bottle.
Riiffs Seasons Drift Performance & When To Wear
The aggregate voting data tells a less flattering story than its sibling’s. Longevity comes from 66 votes and the modal answer is Moderate at 33, against Long Lasting at 17 and Weak or Very Weak at 1 combined: the common answer is “moderate”, not “long lasting”. Sillage from 52 votes is overwhelmingly moderate — Moderate 42, Strong 8, Intimate 2. Rise scored 77 out of 100 for longevity from 52 votes and 68 for sillage from 46; it is the stronger performer by a clear margin.
This matters commercially, so we will say it directly. Just My Look markets Seasons Drift as lasting 8 to 12 hours; Emirates Oud and Olvio claim 6 to 8. The community data supports neither, and nor do we. Our own testing puts it at 5 to 7 hours on skin, moderate projection settling close after an hour, good retention on fabric. If you need all-day performance from one morning spray, this is the wrong bottle; Seasons Rise is the right one.
Wear it in spring and summer, in daytime, in warm weather, and above all at work. Good for commuting, gym bags and travel. Not for winter, evenings, or anywhere you want presence: in cold air the citrus vanishes almost immediately and the thin cedar-amber left cannot carry a coat. It is a poor signature scent for anyone who wants to be remembered.
Who It’s For & Styling
Seasons Drift is for someone who wants a clean daytime fragrance for warm weather and does not need it to make an entrance. If everything you own is too heavy for the office, this solves that for £30. If nothing you own lasts, it makes things worse.
The gender labelling here is the worst case in the catalogue. Riiffs’ UAE site says Women, its UK site Unisex while tagging the product “Men’s Eau De Parfum”, its US site Masculine; Fragrantica lists it as women’s. Among UK retailers, Emirates Oud, Faroma and Olvio say Women, Just My Look Unisex, Shure Cosmetics “Ladies”. Nine sources, four answers, one bottle. We list it as unisex — the only defensible reading of a lemon-grapefruit-cedar-sage composition.
One styling tip. Over-spray it, deliberately. The usual advice to go easy does not apply: at one spray it is gone from other people’s perception within the hour. Three or four sprays, one on the shirt collar, gets you a working day without ever becoming intrusive. A 100ml bottle at four sprays a day still lasts months.
Across the range: for fresh and dry, Freeze at £29.99 takes the icy citrus idea further with mint and amber, and Costa de Amalfi at £24.99 is the cheapest way in, with lemon, yuzu, ginger and a mineral edge. Taif at £29.99 shares the ginger brightness but pushes into tuberose and rose. For the opposite — sweet, spiced, powerful — take the sibling Seasons Rise at £29.99: cinnamon, caramel, toffee, praline, and the better performer by a distance.
Price, Size & What You Get
We are not the cheapest place to buy this, and will not pretend otherwise. Seasons Drift has the widest UK price spread of anything we stock. As at August 2026: Faroma £14.99, Shure Cosmetics £16.50, Just My Look £21.95, Emirates Oud £24.99, Olvio £24.99, Riiffs’ own UK site £32.99 — a 120% spread on the identical 100ml bottle. Ours is £29.99, near the top. If price is your only consideration, Faroma is half what we charge and you should go there — better we tell you than you find out after ordering.
What you get instead is free UK delivery with no minimum spend, stock that is actually in stock, and a listing that says five to seven hours rather than repeating a manufacturer’s twelve. Claiming we were competitive on price here would undermine every other page we have written. Standard size is 100ml, with no factory 50ml, so smaller bottles are decants. It is a sensible first Riiffs for anyone curious about the house but not ready for something heavy, or short on daytime options. Why is nothing on this page taken from Riiffs’ own product data?
Because that data is demonstrably cross-wired. Riiffs’ UAE site gives Seasons Drift a pyramid of bergamot, saffron, orange and candy over jasmine, violet and blackcurrant over amber, moss, cashmeran and musk — and publishes it byte for byte for Seasons Rise too, with an identical description opening “A timeless and elegant scent that captures the essence of blooming flowers”. Two fragrances cannot share a pyramid, so it is template filler and we reject it for both. Worse, Riiffs’ UK season-drift page carries the HTML title “Freeze Zenith”, two other Riiffs fragrances, so the cross-wiring is at page level rather than in a description field. It also uses the templated sentence “a bold unisex fragrance blending oriental and woody notes for a lasting, luxurious scent experience”, shared with Seasons Rise, Zenith, Freeze and Spectra Surge, and Drift is not oriental-woody. The US and India sites call it “hibiscus, vanilla, amber made form the best”, typo included and identical to the Rise copy; hibiscus appears in no pyramid anywhere. That makes the resellers more reliable than the manufacturer, which is worth saying out loud.

Riiffs Parfums is an independent, family-run house in Deira, Dubai, generally reported as founded in 2018. It names no perfumers, publishes no manufacturing details, and runs a sister label, Nusuk, catalogued at Nusuk perfumes. It holds no affiliation with, licence from or endorsement by any designer house, and no Riiffs product page anywhere names a competitor fragrance — every dupe claim in the catalogue comes from resellers, blogs or social media.
