Chanel launched Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif in 2025: a darker, ambery-resinous take on the Bleu line, £215 for 100ml on Chanel’s own UK site. Within months, Fragrantica reviewers were pointing to a Riiffs release as the affordable way into the same territory.
That release is Seasons Drift. Riiffs itself makes no inspired-by claim, but the comparison comes up again and again in its 571-vote Fragrantica page, which rates it 4.40 out of 5. It opens bright on lemon zest, grapefruit and pink pepper, moves into cedar, ginger and clary sage, and dries down to sandalwood, labdanum, amber and resin — fresh on top, warm and resinous underneath.
Not every reviewer agrees it is close, and we quote both sides below. Read this too: it is the fresh, woody half of a confusingly named pair. Seasons Rise is a sweet caramel-toffee gourmand and smells nothing like it.
The Scent Pyramid at a Glance
Ten notes across three tiers, as listed on Fragrantica and by independent retailers. Riiffs’ own sites are no help here: the UAE store reuses a generic fruity-floral pyramid it also prints for Seasons Rise, and the UK store only says “oriental and woody notes” on a page titled “Freeze Zenith”. We flag that rather than hide it.
Zest rather than juice: the bitter, oily quality of lemon peel, with grapefruit’s mouth-watering edge and pink pepper adding a dry crackle. It is bright and clean, and — as citrus always is — the shortest-lived part.
The real body arrives early. Cedar leads with a dry, pencil-shaving line; clary sage adds a green, herbal bitterness; ginger brings a warm fizz so the woods never turn austere. This is the “blue” freshness reviewers link to the Bleu de Chanel family.
Where it earns the L’Exclusif comparison. Labdanum and resin give a warm, sticky, faintly leathery balsamic depth; sandalwood smooths the cedar; amber rounds it off. One reviewer who disliked it found the sandalwood too dominant here — worth knowing if creamy woods are not your thing.

Five of L’Exclusif’s ten published notes also appear in Seasons Drift. The biggest structural difference is at the top: Chanel opens on lemon with mint and peppermint, Drift on lemon with grapefruit and pink pepper.

How close is it, really? Reviewers split, and we would rather show you both camps. On the close side: genec123 wrote it is “exactly the same as bleu de chanel l’exclusif, but smells thicker”; CashisCujo that it is “so close to BDCLE the only one that will notice is your pockets”; Moorbs, who owns L’Exclusif, that “it absolutely nails the essence of that”. jsinkw calls it a “considerably fresher take” that “wears great in hot humid weather”. On the other side, Daeron says “It’s no where near”, and Toms183748 puts it at “perhaps 65% similar”, dominated by sandalwood. On Fragrantica, smellysmellthatssmelly says it “projects noticeably for at least 3 hours and then is a skin scent for about 6”; zmeh reports it “projects for about 7 hours with skin scent up to 9 hours”; Newtype0085 says “easily pushing 10 hours on skin, days on clothes”. Several reviewers note it got stronger after resting.
Spring, summer and early autumn, daytime, and above all work — it is clean, dry and never cloying, and jsinkw specifically recommends it for heat and humidity. For cold winter nights it is on the light side; Seasons Rise is the better choice there.

Good to Know Before You Buy
- Drift and Rise are not related scents. Same “Seasons” name, same bottle size, completely different smell. Drift is the fresh one.
- Not a perfect clone. Reviewers who own L’Exclusif mostly find it close; a minority find it far off. Expect the same direction, not an identical bottle.
- Let it rest. Several Fragrantica reviewers say performance improved after a couple of weeks open.
- Ignore the gender tag. Fragrantica files it for women and Riiffs’ stores disagree with each other; most reviewers wear it as a masculine fresh-woody. It is unisex in practice.
