Onyx Silver is the clean half of Khadlaj’s Onyx pair: peppery bergamot and ginger over an aromatic petitgrain-cardamom heart, settling on a soft resin of benzoin, labdanum and tonka. Reviewers describe it as “soapy, spicy and clean” — the sort of fresh scent you can wear to the office every day without anyone asking you to turn it down.

A bright citrus-and-ginger blast with a peppery bite. This is the soapy, clean phase reviewers describe — “hand soap and pepper”, as one put it.
Petitgrain — the green, woody leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree — with warm cardamom. Aromatic and grown-up rather than sweet.
Benzoin and labdanum give a soft, balsamic resin, tonka a touch of warmth and patchouli a dry earthiness. It is what stops Onyx Silver smelling like shower gel.

Onyx Silver vs Parfums de Marly Castley — The Overlap
Six of Onyx Silver’s nine notes appear in Castley’s pyramid: bergamot, black pepper, ginger, petitgrain, labdanum and benzoin. Castley is the more elaborate composition, with grapefruit, neroli, timut pepper and rose in the heart and akigalawood and leather in the base.
