Shadow Script is the most challenging fragrance in the Bujairami range, and we mean that as a compliment. It opens on cool church-incense smoke and allspice, moves into a dry, papery heart of papyrus and dark rose, and settles on suede, saffron and akigalawood. It does not try to please everyone. It is for people who find “everyone” a bit boring.
Bujairami names the reference openly: its own listing is titled “Shadow Script Inspired By Purpose 50 Amouage”. Purpose 50 is Amouage’s 2025 Exceptional Extrait by Quentin Bisch, and Shadow Script’s published pyramid reproduces all thirteen of its notes — including Mystikal, the accord Amouage uses in its own formulas.
What a note list cannot tell you is density. Purpose 50 is sold on its very high oil concentration; Shadow Script is a standard extrait. We explain below what that does and does not change. Bujairami has no affiliation with Amouage.

Inside the Thirteen Notes
Bujairami’s published pyramid, tier for tier. Shadow Script has no Fragrantica entry of its own yet, so we compare the brand’s listing against Fragrantica’s pyramid for Purpose 50.
Straight into smoke. Frankincense — the resin burned in churches and mosques for centuries — leads cool and balsamic. Pimento (allspice) adds a warm, clove-like edge, pink pepper fizzes, and bergamot gives just enough light to stop the opening feeling heavy.
The part that makes it unusual. Papyrus is dry, dusty and almost papery; sandalwood wraps it in creaminess; vetiver adds an earthy root. The rose is dark and velvety rather than dewy — old parchment in a cedar-lined room with a single flower on the desk.
Dense and warm. Akigalawood — a patchouli-derived material that is drier and more peppery than patchouli itself — anchors it. Suede adds a soft, powdery leather, vanilla warmth without sugar, saffron a metallic, hay-like glint. Mystikal lifts the whole base with a clean, airy shimmer so it never turns muddy.

Our grade: B+. Brand-stated, and a perfect match on the published pyramid — you cannot ask for more on paper. The grade stops at B+ for two honest reasons. First, concentration: Purpose 50’s selling point is its unusually dense oil content, and a standard extrait will not have the same weight on skin. Second, evidence: Shadow Script has no Fragrantica page yet and we have not found named reviewers comparing the two side by side. Fragrantica reviewers of Purpose 50 describe it as incense-heavy and polarising — some call it a masterpiece, others say it smells like a church — and that character is exactly what Shadow Script sets out to reproduce.
Performance — What We Can Say, and What We Can’t
Frankincense, akigalawood, suede and saffron are among the longest-lasting materials in perfumery, so this is not a scent that disappears quietly. But wearers have not yet reported hours for Shadow Script in useful numbers, so we will not print one. Start with a single spray — this is dense enough to fill a small room.

Good to Know Before You Buy
- This is not a crowd-pleaser. Incense and papyrus divide people. If your collection is all clean, fresh scents, this will feel alien at first.
- Evening and cold-weather wear. The smoke and suede gain richness in cool air and low light; in summer heat they can feel overwhelming.
- Not for the office. The density that makes it interesting also makes it too much for shared spaces.
- No oud in it. The darkness comes from frankincense, akigalawood and suede. If you specifically want oud, look at Mad Love or Roselle.
- It will not fool an Amouage owner. Same notes, different density. Buy it for the composition, not to pass it off as the original.
